Terms of Service
These Terms of Service govern your use of the SpeakToText website, downloaded installer packages, desktop software (Windows & macOS), upcoming mobile applications (iOS & Android), and any connected SaaS APIs or cloud processing services.
Last updated: May 24, 2026
1. Agreement to Terms and SaaS License
By creating an account, downloading our desktop clients, installing our mobile suites, or purchasing a subscription plan, you agree to be legally bound by these Terms.
Subject to your compliance with these Terms, we grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable, and non-sublicensable license to install and run the SpeakToText software on your personal or corporate devices, and access our cloud processing services solely for your productivity operations.
2. Absolute Content & IP Ownership
You Own Your Data: You retain full, exclusive, and unrestricted ownership of all audio inputs, voice recordings, transcribed outputs, rewritten drafts, summaries, and explanation texts processed by SpeakToText.
Zero IP Claims: SpeakToText claims absolutely zero intellectual property rights, licenses, or ownership over your transcripts or text blocks. We do not inspect, retain, or compile your generated writings, and we never use your inputs or outputs to train AI models.
3. Acceptable Use and System Integrity
You agree to use SpeakToText solely for lawful purposes. You are strictly prohibited from:
• Attempting to reverse engineer, decompile, disassemble, or extract source code from our compiled Tauri desktop binaries, mobile application packages, or backend web services.
• Bypassing API rate limits, executing brute-force tests, or spamming our database and subscription validation systems.
• Using our cloud transcription or AI services to process, generate, or transmit illegal content, malware, or highly sensitive regulatory data in violation of regional laws.
• Distributing or selling unauthorized licenses, compiled modifications, or API key exposures.
4. Subscriptions, Payments, and Cancellations
Secure Transactions: Subscriptions are purchased through Stripe Checkout and processed securely by Stripe. SpeakToText does not store your credit card or financial accounts on our servers.
Billing & Renewal: Subscriptions are billed in advance on a recurring monthly or annual cycle. Your plan will renew automatically at the standard rate unless you cancel your subscription prior to your billing date.
Cancellation Policy: You can cancel your subscription at any time directly through the Customer Billing Portal in the application settings or by contacting our team at support@speaktotext.org. Upon cancellation, your Premium benefits will remain active until the end of your current paid billing period, and no further automatic renewals will occur.
Refund Policy: Due to the high infrastructural cost of hosting ephemeral high-performance voice processing models, past subscription charges are generally non-refundable unless required by applicable consumer law. We reserve the right to review refund requests on a case-by-case basis.
5. Updates, Support, and Deprecations
We continually refine SpeakToText. We reserve the right to deploy automated updates, modify feature sets, change pricing tiers, adjust daily transcription quotas, or deprecate older client builds as our architecture scales.
Technical and billing support is provided exclusively via email at support@speaktotext.org.
6. Disclaimer of Warranties
SpeakToText is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis without warranties of any kind, whether express, implied, statutory, or otherwise.
You acknowledge that speech-to-text conversion and AI rewriting are probabilistic processes. You assume full responsibility for reviewing, proofreading, and verifying the accuracy and appropriateness of all transcribed outputs before using, sending, or relying on them in high-risk, professional, legal, or medical contexts.
7. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, in no event shall SpeakToText, its developers, or its affiliates be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages (including loss of profits, data, use, or goodwill) arising out of or relating to your use of the software.
Our total cumulative liability to you for any and all claims arising under or in connection with these Terms, whether in contract, tort (including negligence), or otherwise, is strictly capped at and shall not exceed the total amount paid by you to SpeakToText in the twelve (12) months preceding the event giving rise to the claim.
8. Governing Law and Amendments
These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of Wyoming, USA, without regard to its conflict of law principles.
We reserve the right to amend these Terms at any time. The date of the latest revision will always be displayed at the top of this page. Continued use of the product constitutes your acceptance of the revised Terms. For any inquiries regarding these terms, contact us at support@speaktotext.org.
